Monday 9/28 – Kickass Cupcakes Happy Hour

Held on the last Monday of every month from 5 PM to 7PM is Kickass Cupcakes’ Happy Hour where you can try mini cupcakes for FREE.  Free snacks from a place called Kickass Cupcakes is definitely a way to Live Proper.  This snack shop kicks ass because all the cupcakes are baked from scratch everyday in small batches using all natural ingredients.

Wednesday 9/30 – Betsey Johnson Fashion Show

The Estate located at 1 Boylston Place (aka The Alley) will be transformed into a catwalk to welcome Betsey Johnson’s latest designs.  Her designs are always exciting, provocative with a touch of her signature playfulness so don’t miss out on this sneak peak into this seasons hottest trends!  Doors open at 9 PM and the show begins at 10 PM.  The event is $10, but if you want to Live Proper and save some money, show up before 10 PM and get in for FREE!  This is a 21+ event.

Thursday 10/1 – Launch Party for United Nations Film Festival

The goal of The United Nations Film Festival is to open eyes to human struggles and atrocities across the world through documentaries.

“These films tell very human stories; small, personal stories that are metaphors for larger problems. They are unique, inspiring films made by passionate people. The stories are compelling. The UNA Film Festival provides an amazing opportunity to see films you simply cannot see anywhere else.”

For a $10 donation or with the purchase of a festival pass (sold at the Launch Party), you can preview these films, enjoy food from local vendors, beer from Harpoon, and live music from around the world.  This event will be held at Goethe-Institut Boston located at 170 Beacon St. between 7 PM and 10 PM.

Friday 10/2 to Saturday 10/3 – 20th Annual Harpoon Octoberfest

What better way to Live Proper than to enjoy a nice cold beer?  Well, how about a large selection of beer in a German-style Octoberfest celebration!  Join the Harpoon Brewery located at 306 Northern Ave. as they celebrate their 20th annual Harpoon Octoberfest.  This is a 21+ event where for $20, you will receive a free drink ticket and a souvenir pint cup which you can fill up with Harpoon and UFO beers for $5 a pint.  Along with the delicious brew, there will be German food from local restaurants as well as three stages of music including New England’s German Oompa bands.

Friday 10/2 to Sunday 10/4 – 8th Annual Boston Tattoo Convention

In the previous years, the Boston Tattoo Convention has brought more than 100 body artists and vendors from around the world.  Last year over 5,000 tattoo and body art enthusiasts and were in attendance.  The event will be held at the Boston Center for the Arts located at 539 Tremont St. Entrance fee is $25 and is open from 2 PM to 12 AM on Friday, 12 Pm to 12 AM on Saturday, and 12 PM to 8 PM on Sunday.

Saturday October 3rd – Harvest Fest

Join others to listen, taste, and see Somerville’s artistic, culinary, and musical talents at Harvest Fest.  Harvest Fest will be held at Arts at the Armory in Somerville from 1PM to 8PM.  The event is free, but if you want to Live Proper, pay $12 and get an all-you-can-eat/drink wristband and enjoy food and drinks from vendors such as Downtown Wines and Spirits, Redbones, Magic Hat, The Independent, and much more.   Along with the refreshments, there will be a fashion show that features Artifaktori, Suneri, Black & Blues and poor little rich girl as well as musical performances by One Fine Morning, Hugh McGowan, and Zebbler Encanti Experience.

Monday 9/21 – College Night at The Museum of Science

Thursday 9/24 – College Night at the Museum of Fine Arts

“Don’t I get in for free as a college student already?” Yes!  And you still can this Thursday, BUT the MFA will be throwing a party just for college students from 7PM to Midnight There will be a free concert with a performance from Love in Stockholm, music from DJ Ghostdad.  On top of the great music, there will also be free snacks from Qdoba and prizes will be given away.

Thursday 9/24 to Tuesday 9/29 – Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival

This is the ninth installment of  Boston’s largest and most popular annual outdoor festival.  Last year there was a crowd of 70,000+ in front of three stages over 6 blocks enjoying jazz, groove, and blues music.  There will be 20 bands and 130 musicians performing at venues such as the Berklee Performance Center, Scullers Jazz Club, Regattabar, Wally’s Cafe, Berklee’s Cafe 939, David Friend Recital Hall, and outdoor stages along Columbus Avenue.

Saturday 9/26 to Sunday 9/27 – College Fest

One of the most talked about college year kickoff events is College Fest.  Now, in its 24th year, the organizers, ReadyU, are bringing Boston’s own, Lansdowne, Jeremih, Hellogoodbye, and Talib Kweli as headliners, and other celebrities to Hynes Convention Center.  This a 2-day festival from 12PM to 7PM on Saturday and 12PM to 6PM on Sunday.  Tickets are only $10 at the door (with college ID) and $8 in advance (with college ID) and as always, there’s plenty of FREE swag given out.

Sunday 9/27 – Hub on Wheels & Boston Cycling Celebration

“Hub on Wheels” is Boston’s largest city-sponsored sporting event.  Join others as the city’s cyclists ride on 10, 30, and 50 mile routes that take you through Boston’s scenic areas as well as routes that have beautiful views of the city and harbor.  Even Storrow Drive will be closed off to cars.  Registration is $45.  There will be free snacks, gift bags, and music from 9 AM to 2 PM.
